Canon 50mm f0.95. TV lens versus normal lens - A simple comparison
The canon 50mm f0.95 lens was made back in 1960s and 1970s for the canon 7/7s rangefinder and it held the crown for the fastest production lens in the world at the time. the lens was designed by lens master mukai jirou. it is a gauss type lens, 7 elements in 5 groups. about 19,000 of these lenses were made during the early 60’s to the early 70’s. and "tv" verision is apparently about 7000pcs produced only. The standard version is rangefinder coupled and was made specifically for the Canon 7/7s film rangefinders. These cameras have a special mount to take the 50mm f/0.95 and one cannot use the lens on other film rangefinders, Sony, Leica etc. The Canon TV Lens” version.
From what I have gathered, broadly speaking, there are two versions of the 50mm f0.95 lens and the differences are as follows. Firstly, there is a colour difference between the normal lens (amber colour) versus TV lens (purple).
